This traditional festival is the celebration of a new year based on the Chinese calendar.

Chinese families in Singapore will gather for reunion dinners on the eve of Lunar New Year and the festival will be celebrated for fifteen days of the Chinese calendar.

During this celebration, families will put on new clothes and visit relatives and friends.

Traditionally, children are given red packets containing money as a form of blessings from their elders.
